Illegal Parking Attendants at Blok M Square Controlled

Dozens of joint officers took action against illegal parking attendants who were disturbing the community in the Blok M Square area, Melawai Urban Village, Kebayoran Baru District, South Jakarta.

Head of South Jakarta Satpol PP, Nanto Dwi Subekti said this activity is a follow-up to public complaints regarding the practice of double parking fees in the area.

"They ask for parking money, even though parking is only charged once officially using a ticket," he said, Wednesday (4/1).

Nanto explained that after conducting a joint search with officers from the Transportation Agency, army, and police, his team found six illegal parking attendants operating in a number of parking pockets provided by the management.

"All were given sanctions in the form of inspection reports (BAP) by the Transportation Agency's Parking Management Unit. Repeated violations will result in heavier sanctions," he added.

Apart from controlling illegal parking attendants, Nanto continued, officers also took action against seven street vendors who were selling in the wrong place.

"I urge the public to maintain public facilities and use them as intended. We warn illegal parking attendants not to repeat their actions for the sake of public order and comfort," he appealed.

Meanwhile, one of local residents, Reza Haryanto (29), admitted action against illegal parking attendants needs to be taken routinely to prevent similar practices from occurring again.

"There are some who officially use attributes from the Blok M management, but those who wear casual clothing need to be monitored more closely," he suggested.
